ESCAPE TO WISCONSIN'S

NORTH COUNTRY

The Spider's Nest

Welcome

Sweet Home on Spider Lake

Welcome to Wisconsin’s North Country and the Spider’s Nest. The Nest sits on a secluded cove of Spider Lake on 3 wooded acres. Built in 2023, our unique home is perfect as a retreat for reflection, as a “love nest” for a couple, or as a fun place for a family vacation. The Nest can house up to 8 people and our property includes 2 RV hookups.

Located in the 1.2 million acre Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest (pronounced Shwamegan), Spider Lake represents all that we love about the North Country: deep forest, sparkling lakes, crisp clean air, bright night skies, and abundant wildlife such as elk and bears. It’s common to see deer fearlessly meander past the house. From Spider Lake, you can access Moquah Lake and the wild Brunsweiler River.

Watching the moon rise on Spider Lake is pure magic. When the sun rises through the generous east-facing picture windows, it reflects off of the water through the birch trees and into the house. This place reminds us that we're part of the beauty of nature. We're excited to share it with you.

Weather

Typical North Country weather. What we love about Wisconsin is the changing seasons. Outstanding colors in the fall as the forests around are dominated by hardwood birch and softwood maples. Mosquitoes are to be expected, but by mid-July they decrease significantly.  Summer is perfect for boating, swimming, and fishing. Our screen porch has picturesque view of the lake. Winter is our favorite season. Snow is generally abundant depending on the year and snow sports are excellent with miles of groomed trails for both cross country skiing and snow mobiles. Ice fishing is popular.  Spring is wet, but mid-late spring is beautiful and a good time for fishing.

Who are we

Who are we?

George Siemon and Theresa Marquez have been coming up to the North Country from our home in the Driftless Region of Wisconsin for 25 years, mostly in the winter because we love to cross-country ski. When we saw this 3-acre plot on sweet Spider Lake for sale, we fell in love. We spent three years clearing the land for our house and have really enjoyed pouring our love into building this house. We love the Driftless so won’t always be at the Spider's Nest, but we think it’s so special and we want to share it.  We hope you love it too.
